Aitor Throup

27-year-old Argentinean designer Aitor Throup is fascinated with the body. His designs all start out as comic book-style sketches - furious and raw –where he plays with proportion and thrashes out an idea. In fact, if he weren’t a fashion designer his sketches would be at home on a Gorillaz album.

He’s intrigued by movement and needs to visualize how any piece will look from every possible angle. His collections are grounded in functionality, you can tell he’s thought deeply about what he produces.

He’s won a barrage of awards, including the Princess of Wales Charitable Trust Scholarship Award in 2004, and Fashion Menswear Award 2006 from the Royal College of Art Society, and two awards at ITS#5 (International Talent Support): ‘Collection of the Year’ and ‘i-D Styling Award

He launched his ‘Tailoring’ capsule concept with an exclusive installation at MAN in January.
